Lauren Hale, CPM, CDEM
Lauren’s passion for birth was sparked by the birth of her first child in 2007. It wasn’t until she was planning for her third birth that she began to really delve into labor support and childbirth options in the Fort Wayne area. In 2013 she began the process of becoming a birth doula, and soon after began attending homebirths as a birth assistant. In late 2014 Lauren gave birth for the fourth and final time. Surrounded by her family and birth team, she caught her own baby and lit a passion that couldn’t be denied. After taking some time to raise her youngest, Lauren enrolled in National College of Midwifery’s ASM program, graduating in December 2020. By March of 2021 Lauren held the designation of Certified Professional Midwife (awarded by the North American Registry of Midwives) and Certified Direct Entry Midwife (awarded by the State of Indiana). Throughout the years Lauren has attended trainings on a variety of midwifery and birth related topics such as: breech birth, vaginal birth after cesarean, still birth, neonatal resuscitation, birth emergencies skills, and many others.
Lauren resides in northeast Indiana with her husband of many, many years and their four children. She enjoys spending time with her children, and being a spectator during their many sporting events. In the rest of her free time, Lauren enjoys gardening and caring for the many farm animals in her backyard.
Kirsten Lane, Student Midwife
Kirsten has always been interested in all things birth, especially home birth. One of her earliest childhood memories was attending the birth of her younger siblings, which sparked her natural curiosity and passion.
When Kirsten was pregnant with her oldest, she began her studies to become a birth doula and attended a DONA training course in 2011. She then transferred to Birth Arts International and completed her certification. In 2016, Kirsten was certified in Birth Emergency Skills, CPR, and NRP in preparation for becoming a birth assistant and has continued in both roles.
For many years, she held onto the dream that “someday” she'd become a midwife, and in 2023, Kirsten made the first steps toward this dream. She is now OFFICIALLY enrolled at National College of Midwifery and will begin her clinical apprenticeship as a student midwife.
Kirsten lives in rural Northeast Indiana with her high school sweetheart and five children. She enjoys reading a good book, playing in her garden, and exploring the not-so-far-away places because (you know) on-call life.
